The Ken Silverman Trio

Saturday, August 27 at 7:30pm

Hailing from New York City, The Ken Silverman Trio is a modern jazz guitar trio playing original compositions with rock, surf, blues, funk and classical influences. The music has the instrumental improvisational prowess of jazz, the compositional heft of classical music and the intensity of rock and blues. The concert will feature music from the critically acclaimed 2015 release 'Parallel Man' (SoundSeer) as well as premiere material from the to-be-released fall 2016 recording 'Guitar Fantasies'.

Ken Silverman views ‘Parallel Man' as “a new direction in that it is both musically adventurous and widely accessible to a broad jazz audience”, while Hrayr Attarian of allaboutjazz.com says it is “...an engaging record full of intelligent ideas and charming melodies that is a refreshingly honest statement by a singular and superb musician.”

All three members of the Trio are active in the New York City jazz scene. In addition to his trio, Silverman (guitar and composer) is part of an electronic music project with Sound Designer Jean-Luc Sinclair entitled "Imaginary Planetarium", where he also plays the lap steel. Silverman has other musical endeavors including performing in a swing band and has released four recordings to date, one of which, 'Macroscopia', is on the Métier label of Divine Art Recordings, an associate company of Brandon Music.

Originally from Scotland, double bassist Sam McPherson is an impeccably tasteful bassist who performs in numerous jazz and classical contexts in the New York City area. For several years, McPherson has been a member of the Lisle Atkinson's Neo Bass Ensemble, which features six bassists and gives an annual concert at Symphony Space.

Andy O'Neill, a graduate of William Patterson University's jazz program, is one of the most creative drummers in the present New York City scene. His playing in the Trio and other projects is nothing short of breathtaking. O'Neill is also a bandleader in his own right, leading "Score", a soul jazz project and has led other happening groups in the past.

Tickets are $20 with a pre-concert dinner available for $25. Reservations are required for dinner and recommended for the show. Venue is BYOB. Call (802) 247-4295 or e-mail us for reservations or more information.
